An ebook is simply a digital book that you can read on your computer or portable device.
It is a great product to practice information marketing; you can write on any subject that interests you or a subject you know something about.
Maybe you have a fish tank you’re very passionate about, than you could write about how to take care of fish, how to maintain a tank and how breed fish successfully. This is just an example of how you can start writing your own ebook and sell it on the internet.
The great thing is, you don’t have to find a publisher, you can simply publish it yourself.
How to write an ebook
Once you are clear on the subject you want to write about, you can start. Microsoft Word or similar software will do fine for writing your book.
The best way to start is to first write down your table of contents and then fill in the text for each chapter. That way you will work organized and you’re sure you've covered all your topics.
I, on the other hand, like to start writing down whatever comes in to my head. Each time I start on a different topic, I start a new block of text. When I’m finished I organize the blocks of text and make up titles to go with them. Even when I start doing the layout, I still change pieces of text and think of things I want to put in there.
I wouldn’t recommend this method at all ;-) but it’s a matter of discovering what works best for you. Just start writing and you’ll see how you get along.
It’s not important to write a lot, as long as you provide value for your readers. Quality is certainly more important as quantity.
Layout and publishing
When all the typing is done, you want your ebook to look fine off course. Put all the titles in a certain color and the sub titles in a different color. Use a font that is easy to read and make each paragraph no longer then 4 or 5 lines. If you make big blocks of text, your readers will easily get bored.
You can insert some pictures here and there if they add value to the text and be sure to make a smashing cover for your ebook. You can create one yourself or you can ask a designer to make one for you.
Add page numbers, an introduction and preferably a header and footer with your logo and website URL.
When your ebook is completely finished, you simply export it to a .pdf file.
To display a 3D book design on your website I would recommend using Cover Action Pro or have one made by a graphic designer.
If you’re ebook looks good you will sell more copies, that is a fact.

Thanks for this succint article. Is Cover Action Pro the simplest/easiest cover software, and is it suitable for both Mac and Windows?

It is suitable for both Mac and Windows and really very easy to use. You do need Photoshop for the actions to work.
