Video Sitemap Or Not?

When you embed videos on your blog, do you have to make a video sitemap and how do you make a video sitemap? A lot of people ask me these questions and to be quite honest, I was wondering myself.

Before, if you wanted Google to index your embedded videos, to show up in the search results, you had to make a video sitemap.

But now we suddenly notice that Google indexes video URLs from embedded YouTube videos (embedded with the iframe code) automatically! Quite some discrimination here regarding to other video hosts but good news for people who embed YouTube videos, soon after posting a new blog with an embedded YouTube video it shows up in Google search results with snippet!

I have never made a video sitemap for magicmediaforce.com but look what happens when you search for site:magicmediaforce.com my presentation video that can be watched from almost any URL of my website is indexed about 50 times!

For WordPress users embedding videos from other video hosts there is the Yoast Video SEO plugin for generating a video sitemap.
